Canada's Express Entry Again Targets Provincial Nominees in Latest Draw, CRS Score Climbs to 784

On June 10, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its third invitation round of the month through its flagship immigration management system, Express Entry. This draw specifically targeted candidates who had already secured a provincial nomination (PNP), issuing 125 Invitations to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Notably, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this round reached 784. According to IRCC's tie-breaking rule, only candidates with a CRS score of 784 or higher who had created their profile before September 12, 2024, at 6:12 p.m. UTC were eligible for an invitation.

Pace of Invitations Quickens Under New Minister

This draw is the third to be conducted since Canada's new Minister of Immigration, Lena Diab, took office. The first two draws in June occurred on June 4 (targeting healthcare and social services occupations, issuing 500 ITAs with a score of 504) and June 2 (targeting the PNP, issuing 277 ITAs with a score of 726).

To date, IRCC has issued a total of 35,342 Invitations to Apply through the Express Entry system in 2025.

Analysis of 2025 Express Entry Trends: PNP Dominates

A review of the invitation rounds in 2025 shows that the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is unquestionably the most heavily favored category by IRCC. Of the 20 draws held so far this year, 10 have been dedicated to PNP candidates, accounting for half of all rounds.

The remaining invitations were distributed among Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, candidates with French-language proficiency, and those in Express Entry's new priority occupation categories. The distribution is as follows:

Draw CategoryNumber of Draws in 2025
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)10
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)4
French-language proficiency3
Healthcare and social services2
Education1

This trend clearly indicates that for candidates in the Express Entry pool, obtaining a provincial nomination certificate is a key strategy for significantly boosting their CRS score and securing an invitation.

IRCC Issues a Solemn Reminder: Ensure Information is Accurate, Beware of Misrepresentation Risks

While announcing the latest draw results, IRCC also reiterated the responsibilities of candidates within the Express Entry system. The department noted that candidates can and should update their profiles at any time, provided they remain eligible.

For candidates, keeping information current is not only an obligation but can also be beneficial. For example, improving language scores or gaining more relevant work experience can lead to a substantial increase in CRS points and a better chance of being invited.

However, IRCC also issued a stern warning: candidates are fully responsible for the truthfulness and accuracy of all information in their profiles. If a candidate receives an ITA based on outdated or false information, their application may be deemed ineligible during subsequent processing.

More seriously, proceeding with a permanent residence application based on a profile containing false information may constitute misrepresentation. In Canadian immigration law, this is considered a form of fraud with extremely serious consequences. Misrepresentation can even occur unintentionally, for instance, if a candidate provides information they did not realize was incorrect.

If found guilty of misrepresentation, an applicant could have their permanent resident status or even their Canadian citizenship revoked. They may also face fines and be banned from applying for any Canadian immigration program for a specified period. Therefore, all candidates are urged to treat their Express Entry profile with the utmost care and to regularly verify all submitted information.

Ontario Announces New Regulations to Streamline Certification for Interprovincial Professionals
The Government of Ontario has recently announced a major reform framework known as "As of Right," designed to break down interprovincial barriers and significantly simplify the certification process for professionals in regulated occupations coming from other Canadian provinces. The new rules, scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026, will shorten the certification period from the current several months to as little as 10 business days, thereby promoting free labour mobility within Canada. This initiative will not only have a profound impact on professions like architects and engineers but also establishes a special fast-track entry for certain healthcare professionals from Canada and the United States, potentially creating new opportunities for individuals seeking to immigrate through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
