Statistics Canada has launched a large-scale hiring campaign for the 2026 Census of Population, bringing on roughly 32,000 workers across Canada. Eligible applicants include work permit holders who meet residency and age requirements. The main openings are for enumerators and crew leaders, paid hourly with certain reimbursable expenses. For those planning to pursue permanent residence through Express Entry, some positions may provide supplemental Canadian work experience—but whether hours count toward the Canadian Experience Class depends on the role’s TEER level, NOC classification, and how closely actual duties align with NOC requirements.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted its first Express Entry draw of the year for trade occupations on September 18, 2025. A total of 1,250 candidates received an Invitation to Apply (ITA). However, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score soared to 505, significantly higher than the previous draw for this category. The primary reason for the score increase is the long interval between draws, which led to an accumulation of high-scoring candidates. Additionally, internal documents suggest IRCC plans to issue more invitations to trade candidates in the second half of the year.

On September 12, 2025, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador conducted its ninth provincial immigration draw of the year. A total of 353 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued through two key pathways: the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). Notably, the number of AIP invitations in this round reached a new high for 2025, underscoring the province's ongoing efforts and strategic focus on attracting new immigrants.

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, held its latest immigration draw on August 29, 2025, issuing a total of 202 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates for provincial immigration. The invitations were issued through the province's Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), underscoring the province's strategy of attracting skilled talent to meet local labour market demands.
