September 26 Invitation Details
The Newfoundland and Labrador Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism distributed invitations in the September 26 draw as follows:
- Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP): 107 invitations
- Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP): 110 invitations
Since the province implemented the Expression of Interest system for both immigration programs in February of this year, draw activities have maintained a consistent frequency. Notably, the last two draws have shown an upward trend in the number of Atlantic Immigration Program invitations. This draw marks a significant turning point—the first time that Atlantic Immigration Program invitations have exceeded those for the Provincial Nominee Program.

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) Explained
The Atlantic Immigration Program is an employer-focused pathway to permanent residence established by Canada for the four Atlantic provinces, covering New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Application requirements for the program include:
- Obtaining a job offer from a designated employer in the Atlantic region
- The job offer must be endorsed by the province
- Meeting minimum work experience requirements, or being a recent graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in the Atlantic region
Regarding the application process, candidates can apply directly to the federal government for permanent residence after obtaining an endorsed job offer.
A major advantage of this program is that applicants are eligible for a special work permit valid for up to two years, allowing them to work legally in Canada while their permanent residence application is being processed.
Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) Explained
The Provincial Nominee Program is Newfoundland and Labrador's immigration pathway for nominating foreign skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs to obtain permanent resident status.
The program includes five categories:
- Skilled Worker Category—Express Entry Skilled Worker
- Skilled Worker Category
- International Graduate Category
- International Entrepreneur Category
- International Graduate Entrepreneur Category
Obtaining permanent resident status through the Provincial Nominee Program requires two steps: First, applicants must submit an application to the provincial government and receive a provincial nomination; after receiving the provincial nomination, successful nominees can apply to the federal government for permanent resident status.
The adjustments to the province's immigration policies and changes in invitation numbers reflect Newfoundland and Labrador's continued efforts to attract and retain international talent, while also providing more opportunities for applicants interested in immigrating to Canada's Atlantic region.
