Latest Draw Results
On October 17, 2025, the Prince Edward Island Office of Immigration (OIM) announced the results of its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw. A total of 160 candidates received invitations, primarily through two immigration streams:
- Labour Impact
- PEI Express Entry
The 160 invitations issued make this the second-largest single draw conducted by the province so far in 2025.
All invited candidates were already living and working in Prince Edward Island in sectors and occupations deemed valuable to the province's economic growth.
Priority Candidates and Key Sectors
In this round, international student graduates from the following three PEI post-secondary institutions were given further prioritization:
- University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
- Holland College
- Collège de l’Île
The PEI Office of Immigration explained that due to a limited number of nomination allocations, a high volume of applications, and provincial labour market priorities, the program is currently prioritizing the selection of skilled workers in key, high-demand sectors.
For 2025, the priority sectors include:
- Healthcare
- Trades
- Manufacturing
The Office of Immigration specifically noted that, at this time, individuals working in the sales and service sectors may not be considered for a provincial nomination.
Throughout 2025, nearly all PEI PNP draws have issued invitations to candidates from the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams. There has been one exception that also included a candidate from the Business Impact Category – Work Permit Stream.
How to be Considered for a Provincial Nomination
The PEI PNP uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) system to select candidates. The process is as follows:
- Submit a Profile: Interested foreign nationals must submit an EOI profile to the province, indicating the immigration stream they wish to be considered for.
- Enter the Candidate Pool: Once a profile is successfully submitted, the individual officially becomes a candidate and is entered into the pool for that stream. They are then ranked against other candidates. Candidates can update their profiles at any time.
- Receive an Invitation: If a candidate's score and background meet the province's selection criteria, the PEI PNP will issue them an official Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a provincial nomination.
The province may assess candidates based on one or more of the following factors:
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English or French.
- Education Background: Including level, field of study, and location of completion.
- Skills and Work Experience: Professional skills and relevant work history.
- Alignment with Strategic Priorities: How well a candidate meets PEI's immediate labour market needs.
- Other Employment-Related Attributes: Such as holding a job offer from a PEI employer or having previous Canadian work experience.
